SC Gabala supports opening Ronaldinho Soccer Academy in capital Baku, Azerbaijan as a new project with the world-famous Brazilian footballer. The deal has been announced by today’s press conference at the Baku Olympic Stadium joined by Gabala Sport Club’s president Tale Heydarov, AFFA secretary general Elkhan Mammadov and deputy director of the Gabala Football Academy Nail Karimov.
Heydarov shares details of the projected deal saying: “It’s been a period of time that we were planning Ronaldinho’s visit to Baku and now it is pleasure to have his trip today.
It’s already years the Gabala Football Academy has been acting in the district. Now the new academy will operate in Baku. We hope his name on the football school will increase football interest among the youth. Ronaldinho and his personal staff will set the vision of the academy and keep a close attendance in its development. He is one of my most favorite footballers. His trip was not a point in our agenda and we started to negotiations unexpectedly after we were informed about deep interest in this. We knew about his academies in some countries and have decided to strengthen Gabala’s youth football development with this next step.
The location of the academy is not been set yet as this is still under discussion. And we appreciate the support AFFA are planning to give us. There is no need to organize the academy in Gabala as it is difficult to live there although good facilities. But young footballers living in Baku can get back their home from the new academy after their trainings. So it will be in Baku for hundred percent. We want to make different age groups, starting from U11, join the domestic championship. It is not easy to keep up steps with our academy and we actually expected it will draw much attention. We hope children will show more interest in this project”
Heydarov followed also the UEFA EL match in the Group C against Saint Etienne (France) today:
“I will not be able to watch the game in France, which is of much importance for us. We will play in our best to deliver points in this difficult meeting. Both players and coaches have promised to be all for a good result. We are looking forward to seeing this”.
The South American footballer adds about both new academy and his impression on the country: “I heard some many good things about Azerbaijan. I knew many Brazilian footballers play for Azerbaijani clubs. I am glad to be here in Baku. I mostly aim to make the children tied to the football seriously thinking of my name. This will be my success when they become professional players in the future. I also will help them to transfer to greater clubs. It is more effective for them to start to football in their early ages. The have to come to training earlier than all and leave later than all. The need to work really hard and seriously if they want to reach up to high levels”.
The world-star follows also about the Azerbaijan national team and capital Baku. saying:
“I have heard also about the good start of Azerbaijan to the World Cup-2018 Qualifying Round. And I came here to know the country better. After arriving last night, I went to have supper and liked your cosine. I haven’t got a time yet to walk around the city. I have not made decision yet about finishing my football career. But I will do up to this December. Maybe İ üill have a farewell match. It is possible to play for Gabala, why not if the club makes an offer.
AFFA’s senior offcial Mammadov talked about the benefits the project can drive out:
“We are glad to see Ronaldinho in Baku. SC Gabala drew attention of Baku’s football people since last night. Another positive is that Gabala are going to open a football academy with Ronaldinho that will be a great effort on developing the football in Azerbaijan”.
Right after the press conference Ronaldinho joined up with Gabala U15’s training at the subsidiary pitch of the Olympic Stadium.
