Gabala take a 1:0 victory over Garabagh in the 28th round of the Unibank Premier League. The superb win gifted us an all-important finish to the 6-match tie line with the opponents in the season. After the first leg game of the season upsetting Gabala, the both teams shared four draws on the trot. And the last two league defeats gave us gung-ho spirit to beat Garabagh for saving our trophy chance.
The pace of the show started with a Garabagh dynamism on posts close to the home gate with many goalbound shots. But it was Gabala staying firm with clear Grem Smith and strong defensive line.
The second half turned into the favour of Gabala after Arif Isayev was sent off for Victor Mendy. The swift momentum led the home side to earn the only goal of the game in the 70th minute, when Yannick Kamanan superbly finished the cross by Victor Mendy. Now Gabala proved that lightning can strike twice at the end of the long struggle against Garabagh.
