Gabala beat Neftchi by 2:1 in a home match within the sixth tour of the Azerbaijan Premier League. Roman Grigorchuk’s team gave a good start to the match with an early goal as Asif Mammadov capitalized on the ball in the center and passed to Javid Huseynov in the box. The latter set up Steeven Monroze for a perfect follow-up effort passed the opponent keeper – 1:0. This was registered as his third goal for Gabala, including two in the league.

After the goal, Neftchi came from behind when Kiril Petrov shot from a promising position but Dmytro Bezotosniy denied him. Then Gabala looked pushing hard to counter attacks but Monroze and Bagaliy Dabo failed on their chances.

The home side were more passionate in their mission going more into the first period. Monroze and Urfan drew attention both for two times before Tellur Mutallimov’s effort hit the post. And the sustained period of the pressure by Gabala led to the second goal when Neftchi’s defense looked loss in the box before Dabo capitalized on and fired in. This was registered Bagaliy’s tenth league goal as a part of his all fourteen for Gabala.

After the restart, Neftchi scored one back with Namig Alaskarov – 2:1. The goal prompted Dabo and Halliday to two more pulsating shots.

The visitors pushed everything against Gabala to level but Bezotosniy held on clear. The red-black team could have doubled their lead but Bagaliy was denied by the post.

Later on, Grigorchuk introduced Dion Omar Malone. Then correspondence between Javid and Monroze gave another trouble to Neftchi but they were unable to score.

At times, Dabo was changed by Ruslan Gurbanov. But the mutual attacks could not change the scoresheet.

The second victory in a row left Gabala boosting their points to thirteen.
