Today Gabala accepted Neftchala and won over them with 3-0 clean sheet in the 1/8 final of the domestic cup championship.

The home team were definite favorite, as expected, from early minutes and it lasted through entire ninety minutes. So, the first scoring has appeared on the sheet in Gabala’s favour, in the second minutes, after Serge Djiehoua fired the ball from the penalty taking advantage of the rude against Dodo in the box. 

Gabala finished the half on top with minimal score, although Djiehoua, Victor Mendy an Bruno da Silva had some chances for more capitalizing.

Gabala showed lively performance on display in the second half too and boosted their lead on 56 minutes when Djiehoua kick home for his double catching the ball perfectly telegraphed by Mendy – 2-0.

Kavlak’s men gave Neftchala no chance for threatening attacks and the latter picked up the ball in their net on 74 minutes – the last goal of the game – when Sasha Yunusoglu hit the ball to the far point in the box and Dodo finished heading home.

So, Gabala beat the first barrier going into the quarter final against Garabagh, the match that is expected as a hard work for us while the latter had won Sumgait Shahar 3-0 on Monday. 

Fatih Kavlak : “It is not easy to be fixed in a good form for such kind of matches. I told my squad to approach the game more seriously and they did as I wanted. The quantity difference between the sides was clearly shown. We are serious thinking tough about the further cup games and our target is to earn the cup”.
