Grigorchuk: "My team made me proud tonight"

Gabala coach Roman Grigorchuk talks to media reporters for post-match reaction right after the 1:0 victory on Sumgayit in the second tour of the Azerbaijan Premier League. The Ukrainian skipper says:

“My team made me proud tonight and we are really happy to win the game. Now it’s going to be really tough mission against Qarabagh in the next tour. This match will be a pulsating show against the top team. We’ll prepare seriously to this tie but see the effect on next Saturday.

You see the team with high spirits when we won. There were matches over ten that we lost points although playing better.

Javid Huseynov was out of the pitch because of fever and sore throat.

Football calendar is really good in Azerbaijan and I would like my team to play in the EL group. Eurocup teams have more possession as they play against high-class sides and are in a good form always. But unfortunately, our possession is not more than Qarabagh”.

Tonight, the referee hasn’t charged some little fouls and this made me unpleasant by his job. I saw opponents hold my players by their uniform, kicked them by elbow in no reaction by the referee. But he has to pick up a red card and at least three yellow.

It was really good experience to see Tellur Mutallimov scoring as we in no doubt he would be fitting to the top team of the club even when he was injured. I always wished to have perfect wing defenders. His performance made me really proud.

I don’t feel need for any transfer as we are able to go with the present squad until the winter break. But Ilgar Gurbanov’s injury could lead to a serious loss in the team as he is supposed to have fracture on his leg. But we can stay free from losses by the winter break avoiding such injuries”.
