Gabala head coach Roman Grigorchuk talks to media reporters for post-match reaction right after the 1:1 draw with Zira in the fourth tour of the Azerbaijan Premier League. The Ukrainian skipper says:
“We played poorly in the first half because of losing the ball at times. This psychologically affects to performance. Losing the ball is really dangerous in a game against a team like Zira who can set up quick counter attacks. The opponent side showed a good teamwork and built up a good defense. They even didn’t give a space during some attacks. In such cases, our forwards need to have skills to struggle in one-on-one situations and cut through the opponent line.
Our some many passes didn’t work tonight. And two obligatory changes also affected to our show. We failed to shot from both close and long ranges. We discussed this in the break, too. This kind of shots may affect when the opponents plays with five defenders. But we were unable to shoot in the second period in lack of such situations. Zira were defended really well. Poor ends of the attacks also were a part of the down show. Good shots, cut-through efforts and passes from flanks are tools to break the defense. But we failed on these chances”.
