I was waiting for my chance

FC Gabala, keeping progressive mind on youth football with state of the art projects, begins to pick “yields” from the Football Academy that was established in 2009. One of the points is on Amil Yunanov who scored the only goal of the Friday match to win over league champions Neftchi in the last 32 round of the season.

Amil was born on 6 January 1993 in Tovuz where he spent his earlier playing years. Joining the Football Academy of FC Gabala in 2009, Yunanov scored 45 goals in the U-17 domestic tournament of the 2009-2010 season to gain the title of the most accurate player before playing performing among reserves in 2010-2011. But having had been assessed by the Gabala medical staff with six-month injury, he was able to play only at 13 games where he scored 10 goals. The forward made his senior debut at the last round match of the 2010-2011 season against FC Mughan. Joining the game in closing stages, he became one of the youngest professional players of Gabala.

The current closing season is also of success for Amil scoring 16 goals for Gabala in the reserves tournament. He took a big share in earning his teammates silver medals after scoring a superb goal to beat Neftchi at the Friday tie on 3 minutes left. Now Amil appears to be the youngest player of Gabala scoring in the Premier League tournament in his 1st day, 9th month and 18th year.
