Gabala took 2:1 away victory on Inter Baku in the first leg match of the season’s Azerbaijan Premier League.

The pace of the match started by mutual attacks. The home side gained momentum when Mirhuseyn Seyidov targeted our goal net but Dmytro Bezotosniy deflected the ball.

Then Gabala came from behind to open the scoring when Ilgar Gurbanov sent a telegraph from the right into the box before Elvin Mammadov capitalized on the ball and shook the net – 1:0.

The goal prompted Inter to push harder and go too close to leveling, but Mirsahib Abbasov’s powerful shot was denied by Bezotosniy. Later on, Adrian Skarlatake’s foul in the box led to penalty shot by Filip Ozobic right on the target – 2:0.

Gabala could have gone one more ahead after Elvin Mammadov’s superb pass to Steeven Joseph-Monrose but the latter saw his effort tipped wide.

Inter threw everything against the visitors to score their first goal of the season before the half-time, but they were unable.

It was Gabala again looking faster after the restart, but the first threat of the half came from the home side as Bezotosniy denied a long-range shot. Javid Huseynov cut through the Inter defence and came one-on-one with the opponent keeper holding on clear. Then, Pardis Fardjad-Azad scored to minimize the difference- 2:1.

Gismat Aliyev could have doubled Gabala’s lead again after a free-kick but the keeper saved his teammates from a goal.
