Gabala hit to the final match of the Azerbaijan Cup beating Neftchi by 3:1 in away after the home loss with 2:1.

The pace of the match started by mutual attacks. The home side scored an early opener with the first corner finished in with a header by Soni Mustivar – 1:0. The poor start for Gabala followed another trouble as Vojislav Stankovic got injured and left the pitch.

But it was Roman Grigorchuk’s red-black squad not slowing down their attacks led to the leveler just before the half of the first period when Tamkin Khalilzadeh set up a superb cross from the left found Bagaliy Dabo finished clearly. Gabala kept pushing after the goal before Tamkin and Filip Ozobic shot for more troubles. And Dabo in the box shot for putting Gabala one ahead, but saw his effort tipped wide. But the red-black top scorer struck his double after meeting a telegraph by Monroze in the box – 1:2.

The half ended after some more pulsating moments when a yellow card picked up for Urfan Abbasov, as well as Ruslan Gurbanov on the bench. And a close-range shot by Famussa Kone was denied by the Neftchi keeper.

Gabala looked faster and Ozobic capitalized on the ball before being fouled by an opponent player in the box led to penalty. Javid Huseynov shot into the target and Gabala’s lead got doubled – 1:3.

The goal warmed up the show as Nefcthi threw everything against the visiting side and Gabala looked for chances of counter attacks. After failed shots from Kone and Tamkin, the visiting side could have scored one more but Monroze’s shot was converted by an opponent defender.

At times, Gabala keeper Dmytro Bezotosniy and defense line denied some efforts from Neftchi, and even opponent keeper Rahman Hajiyev’s shot wen too close to scoring but was canceled. Gabala gained one more penalty chance after Kone was fouled in the box but Monroze failed.

In the closing minutes, Neftchi pushed harder against Bezotosniy but our keeper held on clear. The result reached Gabala to the third cup final. The all-important match is fixed to May 28 against Keshla.
