Gabala took 1:0 victory on Sumgayit in the eighth leg of the Azerbaijan Premier League. The away match was the first tie of the second round of the competition after the national games.

The pace of the match started by mutual attacks but the home side took the lead quickly. Then Roman Grigorchuk’s red-black team balanced the game that was evident when Bagali Dabo in the right passed to the box setting up the first threat against Sumgayit deflected the shot.

Shortly after, Javid Huseynov’s promising effort in the box was off the target. Another trouble to Sumgayit was set up by Famoussa Kone before the opponent keeper denied him.

Our keeper Dmytro Bezotosniy also showed his great value capitalizing on the ball among opponent player’s feet.

In the 29th minute, Kone came one-on-one with the opponent keeper and shot in after the host footballer fell down and lost the ball – 1:0. This was the first goal of the overseas player for Gabala.

The goal prompted Sumgayit to step up their inroads into the Gabala defense and Rashad Eyyubov’s threatening free kick just passed a little wide of the post.

Sumgayit seemed faster after the restart and threw everything against the visitors. But Bezotosniy didn’t get any tough trouble by the home side and Gabala were seeking for a chance of counterattack.

Although Grigorchuk introduced Asif Mammadov and Ruslan Gurbanov to the game, the things finished by attacks from Sumgayit.

The result left Gabala reaching to their fifth win of the season extending the points to 16.
