Gabala visited Khazar-Lenkoran in the 31st round of the Unibank Premier League. With two round left to the season finish, the 18th fixture was of all-importance for the both sides to keep their chance of getting tally to the European League championship.

The pace of the game started with astute attacks of the teams. With hosts being the better side for early minutes, Gabala got a foothold in proceedings in further periods. Dodo and Urfan inroads from the left made threats at times, one of which set up Victor Mendy almost opening the scoring at close range, but the latter wrong-footed. It was his second failure after losing a chance from a superior cross by Nodar Mammadov.

It was Urfan Abbasov again catching eye through the next superb cross in the 24th minute, but Kamanan and Mendy were off-target again. One of the remarkable moments of the match came up on 31 minutes when Chertoganov slid in the opponent ball and referee Rahim Hasanov sent him off assessing his behaviour non-soccer after the second yellow. It promted Gabala to get gung-ho spirit that was evident with sustained period of our encounter attacks until the break. But even quick pressures of Dodo were not able to break the deadlock.

It was Gabala again setting up the next threat with the goalbound shot by Kamanan after his long travel that did not cut inside the home gate. The hosts were able to open the scoring in the 59th minute when Adrian Pit curled the ball right into the net.

Gabala step up inroads after the Adrian trouble. It led the squad of Fatih Kavlak to score the second and last goal of the night 3 minutes left to the full-time mark when the visiting coach added the Daniel Cruz flavor to the show. Mendy made amends to his earlier failures superbly powering a header after shot by Cruz – 1:1. It was a sublime testimony to spirits of Gabala with the lower staff than opponents. During the last extra time, Gabala could have been the better team of the lively show, but the referee took that offside the goal by Kamanan.

Our only point from the draw does not help the target of the team, so we lost the Euroleague chance.
