Gabala U19 lost to Hertha (Germany) by 1:3 in the first tie of the UEFA Youth League’s Champions Path, second round. The red-black team, coached by Emin Imamaliyev, gave a good start to the match. Veysal Rzayev’s shot passed wide in the early minutes. Then the visiting side looked faster setting up some occasions but our keeper Amrah Zulfugarly held on clear. Before the half-time, Gabala’s Izzat Mushtagov and Samir Gurbanov were off the target.
After the restart, Hertha coach Michael Hartmann, a former Germany national football team player, introduced Mihelbrink to reinforce the forward line before taking the lead. At times, Zulfugarly denied Krebs but Mihelbrink’s pass found Kiprit shot in. Later on, Hertha doubled their lead.
After the German side’s foul on Mahammad Maharramov, a penalty by Samir Gurbanov was off-target. Getting into the closing minutes, both sides scored one goal. In 5 minutes left to the end, Hertha shot in their third before Gabala’s Ali Sadikhov fed back one after a great pass from Ali Mursalov in the 88th minute.
Now the pair will face for the return match fixed to November 28.
