Gabala U19 lost to Hertha with 1:0 in the UEFA Youth League’s 2nd round of the Champions Path. It was the return game after 3:1 loss at home three weeks ago. Gabala, coached by Emin Imamaliyev, gave a good start to the match and went too close to opening but Mahammad Maharramov failed. Then he gained a penalty to his teammates but Ali Sadikhov’s shot was denied by the Hertha goal keeper.
Later on, efforts by Izzat Mushtagov and Idris Ingilably were off-target. Going more into the game, the home side reached to a penalty after Muhammed Kiprit was fouled. He shot in to open the scoring. Then Gabala pushed harder to leveling but Abbas Aghazadeh’s shot was canceled.
After the break, some more pulsating efforts by Abbas Aghazadeh, Samir Gurbanov, Veysal Rzayev and Ali Sadikhov also were unable to change the scoresheet. After the final whistle, Gabala left the continental championship.
