The Gabala IK newspaper drives spotlight back to all highlights of the club during 2013. The top 13 remarkable facts are listed below:
1. Get well, Gabala IK!
The SC Gabala was extended by some new realms of sports – judo, boxing, shooting and karate – at the club. The progress developed the name of the club into the Gabala Sports Club.
2. World-wide known coach joined the Gabala Football Academy
Great specialist at youth soccer Stanley Brard joined Gabala after his many years as a skipper of the Feyenoord Youth Academy of Holland. The director of the Gabala Football Academy is a coach for the last 18 years. Brard, 54, signed 3-year deal with Gabala.
3. Tiraspol Spring – 2013
Gabala”s youth teams got into deeper world football experience making trips abroad. U13 with traditional Vodafone Cup in Turkey, U15 with Ukrainian Presidential Cup, U17 with Laranja Mecanica International Cup in Brazil, U11 with championship in Georgia.
U15 got training in Ukraine before meeting against Ajax, Brugge and Fortuna with testing matches in Holland. The red-black team participated at the 2nd Gabala Cup. U15 took also bronze from Tiraspol Spring Cup of Moldova in March 2013.
4. Hitting 5 championships
U19, U17, U16, U15 and U11 ended the season of domestic championships with goald medals. Only U13 gained the 2nd tier.
5. Appointment warming hopes up.
Gabala took their pace of the 2013/2014 season with Yuri Semin, the famous Russian coach. The 66-year old skipper arrived to the club to be the first coach from Russia and prompts Gabala to hope for reaching to the European cups in the summer 2014.
6. Second Football Holiday in Gabala
Gabala could organize the 2nd Gabala Cup for world U15 teams. The tournament was joined by Barcelona (Spain), Porto (Portugal), Zenit (Russia), Shakhtar (Ukraine), Besiktas (Turkey), Baku and Gabala (both from Azerbaijan). The best team appeared to be Porto.
7. Professional boxing arrives in Gabala
SC Gabala organized, for first, friendly boxing match between Gabala and Fenerbahce of Turkey. It was the first interclub friendly boxing in Azerbaijan. Gabala fighters came out as the bets team.
8. At final round of 8s
SC Gabla is a home to more than 100 judocas, some of which gained tally to the final round of 8s at the first domestic cup. The Gabala fighters ended at the 3rd place with bronze medals.
9. New Stadium
The club gave one more stadium to the domain of the players in 2013. The state-of-the-art pitch contains 3000 seats and makes typical difference by heater system and some extra buildings behind tribunes.
10. New season, new sponsor
Gabala and Pepsi have signed a sponsorship deal for the 2013/2014 season. The all red-black teams will hold the logo of Pepsi at matches.
11. All ways towards Gabala
A highest order shooting complex has just started to act in Gabala that can host international championships. It is officially ordered by the International Shooting Sports Federation the complex will host Grand Prix matches of Olympic shootings to be dedicated to the memory of Heydar Aliyev and World Cup Final in 2014. Another great project is the complex will be home to World Cup games on the way to 2016 Olympic matches. It is going to be the first spectacular shooting tournament in Azerbaijan.
12. Leaving to break amongst leaders
Gabala”s first team are leaving the first half of the league season just before the winter break at the 2nd tier on the table. It appears to be the highest result for the all 8-year record path of the team. The team üill keep up the things to arrive in the European cup matches.
13. Rafael Aghayev amongst top 10 sportsmen of the year
Fighting for Gabala, Azerbaijan, karateist Rafael Aghayev got into the top sportsmen of Azerbaijan being with the title by the Youth and Sports Ministry of Azerbaijan.
