Gabala are going to start to their 8th league performance as the Topaz Premier League”s 2013/2014 season will get underway on Friday.
Being established in 2005 under the name of Gilan, the team moved to being the champions of the I Division in first professional football league season. Since 2006/2007, Gabala experienced their most unlucky year in the debut season from all 7. Failing into the winless streak of 16 matches of all 23 during the debut season, the team survived from the lowest level only on their little chance staying at the 11th tier.
During the next season, the red-black squad were prevented from going ahead by last 4 winless matches. The 2008/2009 season appeared to be worse to Gabala going down to the 10th tier.
For the last four championships running with top six system, Gabala failed to overstep the 5th tier also holding on not to go more down than 7th.
The season 2009/2010, when the gold points system was implemented, left remarkable history for Gabala who got the foothold at the 5th tier before getting out of the top 6 in the next season. Being the 7th in 2010/2011, the team were capitalized keeping the net clear at all 10 matches on the trot.
Gabala ended at the 5th of 2011/2012 to repeat their best result ever in the history of the club. Then the squad were unable to go one ahead having 3 losses in a row.
During the last season, Gabala could stay only at the 6th tier failing to move further after the winless run of 8 matches on the trot.
