Acibadem gets first FIFA award in Turkey

Now FC Gabala feels more convinced trusting its players”r health to Acıbadem as the Turkish health goupr’s Fulya Sports Medicine Center becomes first and only FIFA approved center of excellence in the fraternal country. FIFA Secretary General Jerome Valcke presented the accreditation certificate to the Chairman of the Acıbadem Healthcare Group Mehmet Ali Aydınlar during a ceremony held at the Acıbadem Fulya Sports Medicine Center. The ceremony was also attended by UEFA Vice President and FIFA Member of the Board Shenes Erzik, FIFA Health Commission Lead Consultant Prof. Dr. Jiri Dvorak as well as many other sports figures of the world. Valcke said FIFA was happy having been able to reach to this goal in a short time.
Aydınlar indicated that Acıbadem presented the world with an “integrated health services model” with its 16 hospitals, 12 medical centers, a university and its mobile health services bolstered by services institutions. He went on to say: “we were able to open up to the world because of our international standards of quality, and because of our model and understanding of how an integrated health services system should be. FIFA Secretary General Jerome Valcke mentioned that both his parents and his daughter were doctors but that he himself had opted for sports, he went on to say that “other than myself everyone in the family is a doctor. I chose to play football. Today I can better appreciate that sports and health are inseparable. Professional football players run for 90 minutes so that those watching are entertained by a good show of sports. We have to assist them..because if we are to invest time and capitol into athletes we have to be able to give them proper career opportunities”.
Erzik added that for many years Turkey had felt the need for an investment in sports medicine and a sports medicine center specifically equipped for athletes and staffed by sports physicians. He continued to say that 15-20 years ago when professional athletes were injured they had to be sent to centers in Germany, the USA or Switzerland. But now it is already not the case and Acibadem has really helped the problem to be solved.
After the ceremony, the guests were given a brief tour to the Fulya Sports Medicine Center.
