The 12th tour match of the Topaz Premier League gave Gabala the second push beating Neftchi 2:1. The home match was the first leg of the second league round. It also appeared to be our 2nd win in a row for the current season. We put an end on the goalless period of the last 2 home matches and on winless streak of the last 3 home experiences. And it was the 3rd defeat of Neftchi, a domestic high-class team, on the trot in Gabala.

The 12th tour match-up was also our 200th league performance. Prior to the last game, Gabala had scored 199 goals in 183 games. But now the first goal by Lourival Assis against Neftchi sealed the jubilee before the 201st was scored by Dodo. Now Assis feels very happy being a part in the victory, he talks to gabalafc.az sharing his first impressions after the pulsating game: 


“Indeed I expected the match against Neftchi to be difficult. We prepared well to the show and came on the pitch just for victory. And I was trying to score or to be an assistant for goal, as always I do. This time I helped the team scoring and got into beautiful feelings just after the goal. Now I really feel very happy being a part in the result, for which the team were desperate. We really deserved the win. All the players were quite well with the tasks on them. Gabala have been performing superbly in the last 2 matches. The coach has a big role on this. He is a great man working on everything with his heart. I believe we will be able to keep the winning series ongoing and will reach to the place that we deserve on the table”.
