Elmar Bakhshiyev took charge as a head coach for the Gabala reserve team. He was an assistant coach of the team since 2015. Bakhshiyev played for Shafa (1997-1999), Inter (1999-2007), Khazar Lankaran (2007-2008), Neftchi (2008-2011) and ended his time as a footballer in Gabala (2012-2013). He is among the top fifty players appeared in Azerbaijan championships more than any other domestic footballers. The midfielder scored nine goals in his 268 matches and came on 28 games of Gabala that are all league events. Bakhshiyev played also for the Azerbaijan national team in 32 appearances of the 2004-2009 season. He gave a start to his career as a coach for Neftchi U19.
