Gabala took the 2:0 victory over Baku in the 3rd tour of the Topaz Premier League. The 2nd away of the season earned the team of Dorinel Munteanu the first outing win. The Romanian head coach introduced the same starting staff that played against Araz Nakhchivan last tour.
Gabala drove some inroads into the Baku defensive line but the opponents were holding on. The capital city team backed on encounter attacks.
The second period started by the same way before Gabala"s head coach made some changes in the staff with the players he introduced during the last league match. The basic change came on with Victor Mendy, who is on top of players scoring most for Gabala. The Senegalese forward is also the one scoring against Baku most and he kept his title up by this match. The striker put the rivals into trouble with his first shot and gave live to the attacking line of Gabala. Earning his team a corner, he headed the ball into the net to break the deadlock. The goal changed the course of the game and the home side threw everything against Gabala to level but it led to some spaces in their defense. Our team took much benefits from the case and Mendy launched new attack that set up a good cross from Elvin Javadov to Javid Huseynov. The latter"s long range shot found Ruslan Abishov who scored the second goal of Gabala hitting his debut for the team.
And it was the winner goal gaining Gabala"s second victory in a row and extending their points on to 6 to catch the 2nd place.
