Comin up next - Zagatala / 12th season experience

Gabala are going to face Zagatala in the round of 16 line-up of the Azerbaijan Cup this Saturday.

 

Match Preview:

- It is going to be a maiden tie with the First Division side, which will be registered as the sixteenth cup opponents of Gabala.

- Gabala are going to come on the pitch for the twelfth season after their first-ever experience in the 2005/2006 season.

- In all the eleven seasons, the red-black side could reach up to the final (2013/2014), also semifinal (2007/2008, 2008/2009, 2015/16). Our team left the championship in the round of eight four times (2010/2011, 2011/2012, 2012/2013, 2014/2015) and could develop into the next round after the round of sixteen in three seasons (2005/2006, 2006/2007 and 2009/2010).

- Gabala appeared in forty seven cup matches following twenty two wins, sixteen draws and nine losses.

- We scored seventy four goals and are just one goal from the jubilee goal.

- 160 players came on the pitch for Gabala in all forty seven cup matches.

- Samir Zargarov appeared eighteen times that is more than any other Gabala players. He is followed by Dodo with fifteen games, also Victor Mendy and Azer Hashimov, each with thirteen cup events.

- Urfan Abbasov goes ahead more than all in the present staff with twelve matches.

- Elvin Jamalov and Rafael Santos may appear in the tenth match tomorrow against Zagatala.

- Gabala’s all the seventy four goals were scored by forty three players and one more opponent footballer with own goal. 

- Gabala’s top cup scorer is Kanan Karimovwith seven goals being followed by Vusal Garayev 5, Oleksey Gai, Victor Mendy and Ibrahim Huseynov, each with four goals.

- It will be Roman Grigorchuk’s 100th experience as a head coach of Gabala. His all practices with the red-black side include sixty five Premier League matches, twenty seven Europa League games and seven domestic cup events.

- He guided Gabala to forty six victories, following also twenty six draws and twenty seven losses.

- Gabala scored 146 goals since Grigorchuk took charge in the team in December 2014. He also was disappointed by 89 goals.

It is worth to remember Gabala’s last season start to the cup on the same date of December 3, when they won a clean-sheet victory over Mughan by seven goals.
