Tomorrow, Azerbaijan Cup matches are going into the Round of 16, where Gabala will accept Garadagh Lokbatan for their second tie ever.

Our opponents, having no Premier League experience, is only a member of the I Division. The first-ever match of the pair also was a cup game on 10 December 2010, when Garadagh Lokbatan were called Neftchi ISM.


Scoring two in the clean sheet home match of 2010/11, Gabala knocked out the opponents. Now they have a different name after two years for the 7th cup experience of Gabala in the knock-out stage. Our club also met with league teams during the 2005/06 season when we were playing in the I Division. But in the knock-out stage, 4 “firsts” played against Gabala in 6 match-ups where they all were defeated by our team. It differed us at the goal rating of 2:20. As well, Gabala are keeping up clean sheet in all cup games since 2006.

Gabala have been playing in the domestic cup tournament over 6 seasons since 2005, when the club was just created and joined the competition in the I Division. They all include two semifinals and 2 more quarterfinals, both successful, and other 2 round of 16 matches with failures. Now Gabala are just one win away from their 15th jubilee victory in all 30 cup ties.

Two own-goals were recorded in our all cup history. As Natig Gasimov of MOIK wrong footed in favour of Gabala, our Irakli Vashakidze gave happy finish for Khazar Lankaran.
