Azerbaijan’s first-ever world boxing champion Fariz Mammadov, challenging for Gabala, is highlighted in a movie presented to the public at the Marriott Absheron Hotel. The film project is called Great Return directed by Nijat Jalilov. The 30-minute film tells about his life and career.
The project was produced with a close support by the Gabala Sport Club and International Eurasia Press Fund. The event was joined by well-known figures of Azerbaijan’s sport community, parliament members, outstanding figures of the intellectual community, as well as media reporters. Parlament members Aflatun Amashov and Ulvi Guliyev, former head of executive power of Aghdam Nizami Sadigov, Azerbaijan Sambo Federation President Jeyhun Mammadov and Eastern melody musician Alim Gasimov gave speaches outlining Fariz Mammadov’s career. The film starts showing Mammadov’s childhood passed in a trench during the war when he was in his 12. Then it goes about his way to the sport and return to the boxing again after tough years. The film depicts also his great victory over an Armenian opponent in 2012 and some other remarkable wins.
In the conclusion of the event, Mammadov appreciated to all the attendants, as well as those who gave him a warm support and care over his career time.
