Gabala have made 1:1 against Inter Baku in the 12th tour of the domestic Topaz Premier League today. The red-black side came on the home match picking up a special banner for November 9th – State Flag day of Azerbaijan wording “The Flag is my self-respect, The Flag is my naming, The Flag – my own dominance over my own native land”.
The match got underway by quick attacks from Gabala led to the first threat on the show by Sergei Zenjov being off the target.
Inter Baku drove a swift counter-attack that Diego Martins failed to finish as oyr keeper denied him.
Zenjov was forced off on his injury in the half and replaced by Zatgarov. Dodo went too close to scoring but his poor header canceled out Gabala”s opener after an inch-perfect corner from Fakundo Pereyra.
But it was Roman Grigorchuk”s side anyway opening the scoring in the 30rd minute when Oleksiy Antonov shot home by a 18-meter drive – 1:0. Now the Ukrainian is sharing the top place on the Gabala top scorers after his 5th goal of the season.
The visitors fed back only after 5 minutes with Nizami Hajiyev surging through the center to kick 20 meters off the net before Andrey Popovich denied the ball. And Martins capitalized on the ball to level 1:1.
Antonov could have put Gabala one ahead again from a promising position after Pereyra”s perfect cross in the box. Both sides were unable to score more in the half.
The second period stared by mutual attacks. Popovich gave a great save coming out against Limam Seydi on 47 minutes. At times, Antonov”s 25-meter kick passed off the target before Gabala”s next occasion when Elvin Jamalov tested the Inter keeper by a long-range shot, and the keeper held on clear.
The home side kept pressing Inter Baku back as the visitors played in a backs-to-the-wall display in the closing minutes. But Gabala in their further threats could not find the net and they ended with their 4th draw of the domestic topflight season. The result extended points of the red-black team to 22 sitting 2nd.
