Gabala lost the first tie of the season to Sumgayit with 2:0 at home. The game started with mutual attacks led to threat against the visitors. Sadig Guliyev’s poor header was unable to open the scoring. Sumgayit shot in in the 12th minute with Mehdi Sharifi a few minutes before his double.

Merab Gigauri went too close to scoring but saw his effort passed wide. Later on, Clesio Baugue set up Davit Volkov headed to the post. Then Amin Seydiyev’s effort was unable to shot in.

After the restart,  Merab converted in but the goal was cancelled by the referee. Merab Gigauri, Davit Volkov, Asif Mammadov and Clesio Baugue also set up some efforts went off the goal. In the closing minutes, Anar Nazirov was injured and replaced before Asif was forced off with a red card.
