Today, Gabala have gained 2:1 victory over Khazar Lenkoran in the 21st round of the Unibank Premier League, which is the sixteenth match-up against the opponents.

The show started with frequent inroads of Gabala making the first pulsating episode in the fifth minute, when Mahir Shukurov”s goalbound shot was deflected clear by the visiting keeper. Kamal Bayramov was tested again soon after by Dodo with no goal.

Keeping defensive display for all early minutes, visitors were able to make troubles for Pavel Doroshev at times from far ranges. Those threats led Khazar Lenkoran to opening the scoring with Rahid Amirguliyev”s shot past our keeper- 0:1.

Regaining momentum, Gabala were inches from the equalizer on 29 minutes when Murad Huseynov was very close to score before Aleksandr Chertoganov”s 41-minute goal, which a bit relieved earlier nerves of Gabala. Fatih Kavlak”s men could end the half on top if Murad Huseynov was not off target.

With the second period Gabala were more dynamic, especially after 66 minutes when Deon Burton joined the game as Kavlak sent off Murad Huseynov. Constant threats of Gabala let Dodo kick home in the 78th minute but the goal was disallowed by the sideline referee claiming our forward to be offside.

But in the pulsating extra time, Deon Burton finished the sublime cross by Mendy to score the all-important goal- 2:1.

Opening another 3-point gap on the league table, Gabala are keeping their foothold in the first six more stable.
