Gabala beat Sabail with 2:1 in the 20th tour of the Azerbaijan Premier League. Sanan Gurbanov’s team set up early threats with James Adeniji and Steeven Monroze being off the target. Then Dmytro Bezotosniy gave a great save denying Ruslan Gurbanov before Gabala fed back with James Adeniji kicked Sabail’s post. The first half run goalless, although some more efforts from both sides.

After the break, Rauf Aliyev’s powerful shot run over the woodwork before Lalavele Atakora gave a cross from the right to Rauf. The latter set up correspondence with Adeniji opened the scoring. This was registered as the Nigerian player’s seventh goal over the season. Later on, James put Gabala one more ahead with his double after capitalizing on a great pass from Monroze – 2:0.

It could have been more worse for the visiting side but Asif Mammadov’s promising shot was rejected by the opponent keeper.

Bahlul Mustafazadeh’s second yellow card forced him off and Gabala went down to ten.

Dmytro Bezotosniy deflected Yevgeni Kochuk before Elvin Yunuszadeh reduced the goal difference with a header after a corner – 2:1.

In the stoppage time, Adeniji went too close to Gabala’s third goal but his shot passed wide. Then Bezotosniy’s one more save cancelled Kochuk’s goal.

The result left Gabala extending their points to 28.
