Gabala took comfortable victory on Sabail with 3:0 in the 11th tour of the Azerbaijan Premier League. Elmar Bakhshiyev’s team came on the pitch with a banner writing “Our Flag – Our Proud, Pride and Honour” in respect to Azerbaijan’s State Flag Day.

It was Gabala scoring the opener in the half when Fernan Lopez set up Roman Huseynov and the latter’s pass was followed up by Merab Gigauri. The Georgian midfielder’s 20-meter drive was denied by the opponent keeper and the returned ball was shot in by Davit Volkov. Then Roman could have scored Gabala’s second but his telegraph was unable to finish by Clesio Bauque’s poor header.

Just before the break, the team from capital Baku pushed harder that allowed Gabala to set up counter attacks. At times, Volkov came on one-on-one with the Sabail keeper and shot in – 2:0.

After the half-time, Merab’s superb cross found Roman saw his effort off the target. Later on, Clesio, Merab and Rovlan Muradov went too close to scoring for Gabala’s triple, but they were unable to hit the target. Then Fernan Lopez was fouled led to a red card against Sabail went down to ten.

In the closing minutes, Ulvi Isgandarov scored Gabala’s third in his third pulsating effort on the show.
