Gabala have won over Neftchi 1:0 in the away match of the Topaz Premier League 8th tour.

The red-black side started faster with quick inroads into the defensive line of Neftchi. At times, the visitors gave some troubles to host keeper Agil Mammadov. Oleksiy Gai went too close to the opener before denying by the keeper.
Fakundo Pereyra also failed to score from a promising position just like Sergei Zenjov being off the target in the box.

The side left the half goalless before Gabala pushed harder again after the restart.

The white-black team looked on a backs-to-the-wall display with exception of a few counter attacks at times.

It was difficult to cut through the Neftchi defense and the visitors could set their first threat only in the closing minutes with Gai”s close range shot deflected by the host keeper.

Gabala”s head coach Roman Grigorchuk introduced Oleksiy Antonov who gave more troubles to the home side keeper. The Ukrainian added much dynamism to the show that seemed as a matter of time before he opened the scoring in the 90th minute when he prodded in as the opponent defense looked lost after Ruslan Abishov”s free kick – 1:0.

The goal was Antonov”s 5th for Gabala, as well as 4th in the league to share the 1st place on the top scores list with Gai.

And it was the 4th cleansheet win by Gabala on the trot moving their points up on 19 sitting on top of the league table.
