Gabala have won 1:0 over Zira in the twelfth tour of the Azerbaijan Premier League at home today.
Roman Grigorchuk’s red-black side took control over the ball from early minutes forcing the visitor to the back lines. But it was really challenge to cut their defensive line. Bagali Dabo and Ricardinho were unable to break it from the left.
At times, Ruslan Gurbanov surged into the center to make 25-meter drive denied by the Zira keeper before Rashad Eyyubov came one on one with the keeper but saw his shot tipped converted.
Vojislav Stankovic’s poor header from a promising position also failed to open the scoring. Keeper Anar Nazirov’s mistake set up a great chance for Gabala giving the ball to Ricardinho but the latter saw his kicked passed wide.
After the restart, Javid Huseynov came on the pitch and effectively adding more quality to his teammates’ job. The captain set up Ozobic in the box but his shot was denied by the keeper and his second effort on the returned ball also was off the target. And the Croatian could hit the goal with a great 23-meter shot scoring his fifth seventh for Gabala, including five league goals.
After the goal, Zira threw everything against the home side and could balance the course of the game. But the visiting team were unable to level. Then our keeper Dmytro Bezotosniy gave a great save to his teammates deniying Sezar Meza Colli. Bagali Dabo could have doubled Gabala’s lead before his poor effort. And Ruslan Gurbanov was just a moment late to touch the ball in a superb position. After the final whistle, Gabala fortified at the top of the league table with 28 points also extending their unbeaten streak to fourteenth game.
