Gabala hit the second place of the Azerbaijan Premier League after beating Inter Baku 4:3 in the 27th tour.

Gabala started faster but the opener was scored by the hosts with Rauf Aliyev surging into the box from the left before to end for 0:1. Then Roman Grigorchuk’s team came from behind led to a superb pass from Nika Kvekveskiri found Rikardinho finishing clinically. At times, Sergei Zenjov looked very close to putting Gabala one ahead but he was off the target on his two chances.

Later on, Javid Huseynov came to be one-on-one with the keeper denied the ball. Gabala threw in when Ricardinho’s poor kick from the left returned to Zenjov gave a powerful shot to the ball past the opponent keeper - 2:1.

Gabala’s lead was doubled after Zenjov’s shot was denied by Adrian Skarlatake and the latter’s second effort led to his own goal - 3:1.

The second period started by a heavy rain. Although Gabala kept the opponent side under sustained period of pressure, they missed some many chances. Then Inter could score two more when Elnur Abdullayev’s long range shot found the net before Rauf Aliyev leveled from the box line. The all-important goal was scored by Tellur Mutallimov’s powerful shot.

The result left Gabala extending their points to 52 and ending as the runners-up. Right after the match, the Grigorchuk side were awarded with silverwares while Inter gained bronze medal.
