Gabala lost home match to Qarabagh 2:1 in the 26th tour of the Azerbaijan Premier League today. Roman Grigorchuk”s side were all for victory but they failed to reach their unbeaten run to the 6th game. The match was the 4th tie after 3 draws of the pair.
Qarabagh started faster and developed to opening goal in the 9th minute with Migel Mader”s header after Ansi Aqolli”s pass from the left.
Right after the goal, Gabala pushed hard to leveling but their effort was cancelled by Agolli. Meeting the ball from Dodo, Ermin Zec set up Oleksiy Gai in the box but the opponent defender deflected the Ukrainian.
Then Gabala came from behind after free-kick on 17 minutes when Ruslan Abishov”s long-range shot found Sergei Zenjov in the box to finish with a clinical header.
After the goal, the sides launched mutual attacks to hit the all-important goal. Dmytro Bezotosny gave a great save to his teammates denying a long-range shot by Migel in the 34th minute.
The final goal was scored by Mahir Madatov with another header capitalizing on a pass from Agolli in the left during the second period.
The home side looked faster with their efforts to level again with Mahammad Mirzabayov and Eyyubov but their shots were off the target.
Grigorchuk made some changes to in the staff to step up the attacks introducing Rashad Eyyubov and Oleksiy Antonov and Ricardinho. But it didn”t help the red-black squad scoring the leveler.
