The +100-kg challenger beat his first opponent Alessio Mascetti from Italy before beating also Daniel Allerstorfer form Austria by the ippon trick to progress into the semifinal. But he lost to Algerian Amin Mohammed Tayeb. In the match for the 3rd place, Kokauri won over Tajikistani Mukhammadmurad Abdurakhmanov.

It is worth to remind Aisha Gurbanly also won her bronze in the same championship with 48 kg amongst women.
