Gabala hit its 14th year

SC Gabala are reaching to its 14th year, today. Being founded as Goy-Gol of Khanlar on September 2nd, 2005, it changed its name to Gilan during the season 2005-2006.

The team gained the season’s First Division before its premier league debut. Then in the summer of 2006, the team moved to Gabala from Khanlar. Right after the league debut, the club updated its name again to Gabala in August 2007. Since then, the red-black team earned five seasons’ league medals, including bronze in 2013-2014, 2014-2015 and 2015-2016, as well as silver in 2016-2017 and 2017-2018.

Another debut was in the UEFA Europa League in 2014 as a part of all six season experience in the continental tournament. Gabala were able to develop their EL experiences from Qualifying Round into the group stage over the seasons of 2015-2016 and 2016-2017. The club wrote its name as a first-ever side hitting the group stage after four rounds of EL.

Gabala came on four Azerbaijan Cup finals and won the trophy of the season 2018-2019. Their cup final experiences also go back to 2013-2014, 2016-2017 and 2017-2018.

Footballers produced by the Gabala Football Academy can be found in most clubs of Azerbaijan. Some of them could develop their career even to international football.

Now Gabala is a sport club since 2013. SC Gabala’s challengers in different fields highlighted the club in Olympics, European Games and Islamic Solidarity Games, as well as some many world and European contests.
