Gabala have reached to the domestic cup semifinal taking the away match against Sabah with 1:0 after the first tie victory (1:0) at home. Sanan Gurbanov’s red-black team looked more dynamic on the show with some many efforts in the half period, but they were unable to break the deadlock. The home side were playing in a defensive display also backing on the counter attacks.
After the restart, Sabah seemed faster but Gabala’s defenders held on clear. The visiting team could break the deadlock only in the 80th minute when Tamkin Khalilzadeh set up Rauf Aliyev with a perfect cross finished with a header by the latter before the ball was converted in by James Adeniyi.
The final whistle left Gabala with the victory in the last match of the year.
