Gabala hits its first European champion medal

Gabala judo department reaches up to its one more success with Rufat Taghizadeh fighting for Azerbaijan at the Tallin Youth European Championship. With 55 kg, he earned a bronze medal after beating Henri Maata (Finland), Ray Koffiyberg (Netherlands) and Abdullatif Kopuz. Rufat lost to Elios Manzi from Italian in semifinal. After giving away his tally to final match, he defeated Armenian Shahen Abagyan to square the 3rd place.

It is worth to remember that, the tournament was joined by 438 fighters from 40 states targeting 64 medals. With their first leg, Azerbaijan sportsmen have already earned 4 medals. Hidayat Heydarov (60 kg) and Leyla Aliyeva (40 kg) got gold medals. Rufat Babazadeh with the same weight of Ilkin Taghizadeh gained bronze losing final fight. Gabala"s another fighter Farida Hasanxanova, 67 kg, are keeping going at the international contest that will end tomorrow.
