Gabala took 3:1 victory over Khazar Lankaran in the 23rd tour of the Topaz Premier League at home. The match started by mutual attacks and it was Gabala going too close to the opener in the 2nd minute. But Ekigho Ehiosun failed to convert in having the ball from Javid Huseynov that passed Victor Mendy. The visitors also were able to set up some threats not going back on their defense. But Dmitri Bezotosny held on and the red-black team regained the momentum pushing the guests back to their own side. Mendy”s 14th-minute pass could not reach to follow-up header of Ehiosun and was absorbed by keeper Tomic, as a one of some more troubles from Ekigho and Dodo against him.
The deadlock was broken by Sadio of Khazar Lankaran coming one-on-one with Gabala”s keeper.
It was the red-black side again having the lead after the restart led to level on 48 minutes, when Ekigho shot in after Javid”s superb cross.
At time, the opponents took the lead back again and while Gabala were trying for counter attacks. With 15 minutes left, the visiting keeper deflected Mendy”s close range shot before Javid set up Ruslan Abishov to finish clinically – 2:1.
The closing minutes was pulsating with Rashad Sadigov being injured and forced off. Grigorchuk introduced Ruslan Fomin who assisted Urfan Abbasov to score one more in the comfortable victory – 3:1.
It was the successful end to the winless streak of last 3 matches.
