SC Gabala have lost to Krasnodar (Russia) in the last 6th tour match of the UEFA Europa League C group at Bakcell Arena, Baku, today.
Roman Grigorchuk”s team started a bit faster and Dodo went ahead to shot to the Krasnodar net but his effort was off the target. The opponents gradually could balance the game that led to threat against Gabala with Odil Akhmedov shooting from a promising position which was denied by Arif Dashdamirov. And Sergei Zenjov”s poor header after a corner could not find the net. Oleksiy Antonov also was deflected at times.
Quick attack by the visitors led to a strong kick by Pavel Mamayev hit the post before the Russian side stepped up their inroads into the Gabala defense that finished opening the scoring. Ragnar Sigurdsson headed into the lower right corner with a 7-meter drive after a free kick.
Three minutes after the goal, Gabala went too close to leveling before Dodo”s poor header after a superb pass from Zenjov.
Rafael Santos canceled Krasnodar”s second goal denying Brazilian Joaozinho.
And in the 37th minute, the opponent keeper capitalized on the ball from Antonov targeting Zenjov.
Just before the half-time, the Russian side doubled their lead with Mauricio Pereyra scoring by 30-meter drive shot.
It was Gabala again setting up an occasion early second period but Krasnodar held on and sent the ball out of corner. As the visitors regained the momentum, Grigorchuk made some changes introducing Zargarov and Zec. But it was difficult again to cut through the Russian defense.
The red-black side looked close to minimizing the goal difference before Dodo”s shot near the box was denied by Krasnodar keeper Andriy Dykan. And 3 minutes later, Ricardinho also was off the target with his free kick.
Krasnodar scored their 3rd in the 76th minute when Ricardo Laborde sent the ball to Wanderson in a large space to score in the last goal.
With another C group match, PAOK (Greece) have won 1:0 over Borussia Dortmund (Germany).
