Gabala defeated to Neftchi 1:0 in the home match of the 16th tour of the Topaz Premier League.
The pace of the game started by mutual attacks and the first threat came out from the home side with Oleksiy Antonov”s shot flew over the woodwork in the 14th minute. Later on, Rashad Sadigov seized on the opponent keeper”s mistake to telegraph to Dodo coming one on one with the keeper, but the Gabala captain failed to finish.
Neftchi opened the scoring with Rahman Hajiyev”s free-kick from the left found Jayro converting in by a header. The goal prompted Gabala to set a quick attack that led to gaining a free-kick in the right before Derlis Meza Colli”s long drive went off the target.
Roman Grigorchuk made some changes in the Gabala staff introducing Ricardinho and Asif Mammadov for the 2nd period. After the change, the red-black side looked stepping up their inroads into the Neftchi defense and at times Ricardinho”s cross found Antonov, who made a poor header.
Gabala”s leveler was cancelled once again when Rashad Sadigov went too close to scoring before Kamal Gurbanov denied him. The Neftchi keeper gave another save to his teammates converting out Ricardinho”s 25-meter shot on 81 minutes.
Although the hosts pushed harder to leveling, they were unable to score in the minutes left.
