Gabala hit the tally to the group stage of the UEFA EL ending 2:2 against Panathinaikos in the play-off return match after the goalless draw in Baku, Azerbaijan. Dodo opened the scoring with his early goal in the 6th minute. Then Panathinaikos fed back on 35 minutes with Marcus Berg – 1:1. After the restart, Gabala launched faster inroads into the home defense that seemed as a matter of time before Dodo scored his second to put Gabala one ahead again in the 60th minute. But Panathinaikos”s Nano scored back to level again on 78 minutes.

Then with the 13 minutes left, the hosting side threw everything against Gabala to survive the loss of the UEFA EL, but Gabala held on clear up to the final whistle. And the red-black side could hit the tally to the group stage of the European League for their first-ever time in the history of the club.
