Gabala punished Dinamo Tbilisi 2:0 in the return match of the European League 1st Qualifying Round after 2:1 loss in the 1st game in Georgia.
The home side started faster led to Javid Huseynov”s early free kick that Rafael Santos failed to finish in the box. Another trouble to the opponents came out from Rashad Sadigov in the box being off the target. Gabala kept the visitors under sustained period of pressure went by some more threats. Later on, Segey Zenyov’s pass met Georgi Floresku”s power touched an opponent defender to be deflected.
With a counter attack after free kick against the home side, when Vitali Vernidub picked up a yellow card, before Zenyov failed to finish Antonov”s cross. Just before the half-time, Dinamo”s keeper gave save to his team denying Rashad Sadigov”s header from the spot.
It was Gabala taking the lead after the restart led to Zenyov”s powerful shot deflected by the Dinamo keeper to meet Floresku kicked over the woodwork. In the 64th minute, Antonov in the box could not touch the ball from Zenyov in the right 3 minutes before Floresko”s powerful kick was deflected by the visitor keeper.
Dinamo went down to 10 again, just like in the 1st game, after Georgan captain Lasha Totadze fouled against Urfan Abbasov. Gabala stepped up their inroads into the opponent defense, but Dinamo”s counter attack went too close opening the scoring with 2 Georgian players against our only 2 defenders before Bezotosny gave a great save to his teammates.
Grigorchuk”s changes in the staff brought the fate of the show in Gabala”s favor . Arif Dashdamirov”s dynamism from the left led to the opener by Zenyov – 1:0. Gabala stopped Dinamo”s red-hot efforts before the occasion with 4 red-black footballers against one defender. And Antonov finished clinically scoring second in the great fate of the show- 2:0.
The result is Gabala”s first-ever victory in the European League progressing into the 2nd Qualifying Round.
