Gabala have started to the second period of the league season with 19th-tour away against Baku. The event was Roman Grigorchuk”s first experience as the skipper of Gabala. The 50-year-old gave 4 of the recent 5 transfers chance of making his starting line-up, including keeper Dmitri Bezotosny, midfielders Aleksey Gai, Rashad Sadigov and forward Ruslan Fomin.

The pace of the game started by mutual attacks before Gabala took the lead with some minutes more into the game. Gai looked close to scoring and it seemed a matter of time before he converted the ball into the net from Abishov in the 17th minute. But the goal was not allowed by the referee.

Later on during the half, Fomin got injured at his head clashing against an opponent player and was forced off to be replaced by Victor Mendy.

Although Baku could give troubles to Bezotosny at times, real pulsating threat came out in the opponent box with Javid Huseynov by two shots to the ball one denied by the post after Abishov”s free kick and the other after Gai”s pass swang off the post.

It was Gabala surging ahead into the second period with passion of Gai. The Ukrainian player earning Gabala penalty shot in by Huseynov – 1:0. The latter arrived to his 6th goal in the season after his 4 efforts on the spot.

The goal prompted Baku to push harder but it was Gabala doubling their lead with Mendy meeting telegraph by Sadigov. But Baku”s defender Vugar Baybalayev, trying failed to deflect out and let to own goal – 2:0.

With some minutes left, Grigorchuk introduced also Mikhail Sivakov.

And in the closing minutes, Aleksey Gay wont too close to open his scoring before the opponent keeper denied him.

The game finished in 2:0 in the favor of Gabala that was registered 5th in the season.
