Gabala beat Sumgayit in 3:1 at the last 9th tour of the first round of the Topaz Premier League. The red-black side kept up the winning streak of the all home matches against the team from Sumgayit. Head coach Dorinel Munteanu introduced Gabala by some changes differing from the last game against Garabagh with Muşfig Teymurov replacing injured Urfan Abbasov, as well as with Markinios following Aleksandru Benga. Ruslan Abishov, being recovered from injury, stayed as a substitute. 

The half of the match run by mutual attacks and the lead was on the home side. Sumgayit backed mostly on counter attacks. Gabala seemed close to opening with Javid Huseynov failing to score in the box.

With more minutes into the game, the visitors could score one with Ramazan Abbasov seizing on mistake in the defensive line. The goal prompted Gabala to surge forward and Victor Mendy”s goal was not allowed by the referees seeing him in off-side. 

After the restart, Munteanu introduced Ekigho Ehiosun that led to changing Cavid”s position in the left to right. The changes affected to further minutes with threats on the other end. Sumgayit could have scored their second, but their effort was not allowed as goal. Ehiosun appeared to be the hero of the night with 3 goals he helped much during the minutes rest. First, his pass was finished by Javid to level. Gabala pushed hard to going one ahead and it worked out by Pavol Farkas headed into the net from Ehiosun. The latter himself also was capitalized in the extra time coming one on one with the keeper after the cross from Yazalde – 3:1.

So Gabala moved onto the 3rd place on the league table extending their points to 14.
