Gabala Sport Club addressing to football community: No thanks to referees

SC Gabala regret for the ongoing unfairness by domestic referees in both league and cup championships last years. It is really difficult for the club to challenge this that brings not respect to the professional football movement among the club members and fans.

The most important moment is that all these unpleasant cases seemed more encouraged after Gabala performed some successful run during the last season of the UEFA Europa League.

So the recent efforts from the referees are evidently the ongoing part of their long period of influence on Gabala”s results towards the UEFA EL. Thoughtless charges by the referees in at least five matches much affected to our run this season where we lost some many points.

Four of those games were conducted by FIFA referee Aliyar Aghayev, Omar Pashayev was responsible to the other event. And it is understatement that Aghayev was appointed to 4 games although he made some many mistakes in a row. The facts of those mistakes go as the followings:

- August 10, 2015: In the opening match of the Premier League season against Qarabagh, Aghayev judged penalty against Gabala before picking a red card for Rashad Sadigov and sending him off. This led to keeping Gabala off the victory and ending in 2:2.

- November 1, 2015: Gabala lost to Kapaz on the mistake of Aghayev on purpose.

- December 19, 2015: Qarabagh scored out of football rules in a Baku event and Aghayev allowed the goal causing the match to end in 1:1.

- April 9, 2016: Pashayev kept up Aghayev”s unfair policy in the match against Sumgayit that ended with 1:1.

- April 27, 2016: It was Aghayev again appearing with another unreasonable effort against Gabala during the away match against Neftchi. Although evident foul on a Gabala player, he didn”t charge penalty to the opponent side and he went more ahead on his wrong way showing a yellow card to the footballer of Gabala. Moreover, the referee”s illogical performance peaked when he showed a red card and sent off a footballer of Gabala. No thanks to Aghayev that the game ended in 1:1.

SC Gabala are standing with respect to those clubs mentioned above focusing the statement only on the mistakes by the referees.

Now we are waiting for quick response and reasonable measures by senior officials charged on governing the football in Azerbaijan to bring those referees to responsibility of all the mistakes. These cases draw attention of both domestic and international football community to a basic blot over the national football.

This is why we think there is a deep need of large reforms over referee system of the domestic football.

SC Gabala declares its intention on discussing a possible stoppage of the first team”s run in both league and cup championships in case of the situation goes on.
