Gabala beat Sumgayit 1:0 in the home match of the Azerbaijan Premier League 21st tour. Roman Grigorchuk”s side started faster and they set up the first threat in the 13th minute when Rashad Eyyubov and Ermin Zetsin made up a trouble to the visiting keeper. But they failed to finish. Later on, Elvin Jamalov went too close to scoring before the opponent keeper gave another save to his teammates denying. He could deny also Samir Zargarov at times.

Gabala could have opened the scoring just ahead of the half-time when Sergei Zenjov from the left telegraphed to Oleksiy Gai but the latter failed to find the target.

Right after the restart, Zec”s promising 20-meter drive passed just a bit off the post. Stepping up their quick inroads into the Sumgayit defense, Gabala set some more threats led to the first goal on 65 minutes when Zenjov capitalized on the ball from the opponents and traveled into the box to give a good pass that found Zec to finish – 1:0. The goal was registered 5th by Bosnia and Herzegovinian player during the season.

Sumgayit looked backing on counter attacks but their efforts did not work out as Dmytro Bezotosnyi held on.

Gabala could have doubled their lead but Zenjov failed to score from the promising position.

The result left Gabala extending their points to 34 after the 2nd win in a row sitting 3rd. It was also registered the 8th victory over Sumgayit.
