Gabala”s head coach Roman Grigorchuk appeared on a press conference a day before the return match against Apollon within the 3rd Qualifying Round of the European League. The Ukrainian skipper syas:
“We expected by a really difficult match as Apollon are a strong team. It is not a basic goal ending the away game in a 1:1 draw. There are some fast and established players in the Cypriot side. It is not easy to be safe from such footballers on show. So Gabala have to be focused only on their own performance and be all for just this game.
I don”t care about the fact that referee is from Portugal, and we also forgot about even the result of the 1st game. It is really good as much as Azerbaijan”s clubs can progress more into Eurocup games and hold on there for a longer. I would not like any Azerbaijan team to stop their run in the championship as the domestic Premier League is getting underway.
I call up all native fans to support their all local teams really warmly but the happenings in Cyprus should not be repeated in this return match and football needs to stay off such unpleasant cases”.
