Grigorchuk - We knew it might be difficult match

Gabala’s head coach Roman Grigorchuk talks to media at a post-match press conference after the victory (2:2, pen.4:1) over Zagatala within the round of sixteen of the Azerbaijan Cup. The Ukrainian skipper says:

“I had told to my team before the match that these opponents were capable to perform also in the Premier League and we knew it might be difficult match. So we could not let it go in easy tempo. And it was well evident that we could not protect our team from these challenges. But although it was not a good performance, we won. And it was a good chance to see our condition just ahead of the next round games.

My players were in a tough mood after the loss to Qarabagh as we saw how deeply they were suffered by the mess of that tie. I worked in my best to keep up the positives and confidence. But it seems we still need to work harder on boosting the confidence recovery. First we have to forget about what happened.

Poor quality of this night show is not tied to players introduced with little chances. But we will give more chances to them and I hope they will drive better benefits from their further experiences.”
