Gabala took the momentum with the early minutes into the game led to the opener by Rafaek Santos. But referee Rahim Hasanov ruled out the goal opened by his header punishing him for the foul on the opponent keeper.

With more minutes into the game, the post gave a great save to AZAL denying a powerful shot by Javid Huseynov at the edge of the box.

Before the end of the half, Elvin Jamalov and Aleksey Gai went close too opening the scoring but they were off the target.

Grigorchuk introduced Victor Mendy right at the beginning of the restart to double the forward line. Although the red-black side pushed harder, they were unable to score at their every efforts.

Then AZAL went down to 10 after Victor Igbekoyi was forced off with 2 yellow cards in a short time. Abishov fired the penalty on the post.

With the closing minutes, Javid”s pass into the box from the right was not met by anyone.

As the game was expected to finish in a goalless draw, Gabala conceded one in the closing minutes after AZAL’s pulsating free kick prompted Huseynov to foul on Nijat Gurbanov that led to penalty. Taking the penalty, Rashad Abdullayev finished clinically just like in the match of the first round.
