Gabala lost to Kapaz 2:0 in the 26th tour of the Azerbaijan Premier League.

The away match got underway by mutual attacks. Gabala’s Sergei Zenjov’s shot from a promising position passed overhead. Kapaz’s Julien Ebah and Tural Akhundov drew attention by their long-range kicks before Dario Federiko’s close-range shot deflected by Dmytro Bezotosniy.

Later on, Araz Abdullayev’s free-kick pass was denied by the defensive line before his another pass in the box was tipped by an opponent player.

Ahead of the half-time, Gabala, coached by Roman Grigorchuk, went too close to opening the scoring with two chances when the host keeper’s error gifted Bagali Dabo failed off the target. Then Filip Ozobic’s 12-meter drive checked strength of the post by a powerful shot.

Gabala restarted faster to the second period before the home side looked pushing harder into the visiting defense. They set up some troubles to Besotosniy, but our goalkeeper held on clear.

At times, Ozobich went too close to breaking the deadlock but his 7-meter drive was tipped by the keeper. Counter attacks by the home side led to the opener by Julien Ebah.

Grigorchuk made some changes in the staff introducing Javid Huseynov and Asif Mammadov. But it didn’t help the red-black team setting up threat against Kapaz. After Ruslan Gurbanov appeared the team stepped up their inroads into the Kapaz defense. Araz’s pass from the left found Ramaldanov, but the latter’s header hit the post.

After some more attacks by Gabala, the hosts’ counter attacks put them one more ahead during the stoppage time when Dario Federiko came one-on-one with Bezotosniy. Our keeper denied the opponents first effort before the latter’s second shot passed our keeper – 2:0.
