Gabala lost to Krasnodar (Russia) in the 2nd leg match of the UEFA EL C group at the Kuban Stadium.
The game started by mutual attacks and the first occasion came out from Gabala with Arif Dashdamirov giving trouble to the home side by a long-range shot in the 2nd minute.
But the home side went one ahead right on their first occasion in 6 minute into the game when Ari passed to Mamayev in the box who set up Wanderson to finish clearly. On his next attempt, Ari was denied by the woodwork.
Then although the visitors came from behind for a short time, Krasnodar regained the momentum through more threats. But Dmytro Bezotosny held on clear and gave great saves to his teammates after some pulsating moments.
After the half-time, Grigorchuk introduced Rashad Sadigov to change the course of the match that led to equalizer by Dodo. It worked out through a good pass by Zenjov to the Krasnodar box that Antonov failed to convert in and the ball was deflected by the keeper before Dodo capitalized to kick into the left corner.
Later on, Zenyov could have put Gabala one ahead but his shot was off the target just like Ahmedov tested Bezotosny with a long range shot.
Gabala”s lead in the second period was evident by some many occasions that led to 1 more goal by Dodo that was considered to be offside, being his 2nd after the one in the first half.
Zenyov went much close to scoring Gabala”s 2nd but his long range was deflected by the keeper before Sadigov hit the woodwork from a promising position.
Krasnodar”s head coach Oleg Kononov made some changes to his lineup to step up their counter attacks that worked out for the 2nd goal by the home side as Fyodor Smolov cut through 2 defenders to shot into the left corner- 2:1.
The result put an end to Gabala”s unbeaten streak of 6 matches in the UEFA EL.
It is worth to notice the match between PAOK (Greece) and Borussia Dortmund (Germany) ended in 1:1.
