Gabala shared 1:1 draw against Lille in the 3rd Qualifying Round of the UEFA EL in Lille, France.

The match started by mutual attacks and the French hosts pushed hart to gaining the lead. But Gabala, coached by Roman Grigorchuk, were all out to put out an attacking performance.

In the 5th minute, Bagali Dabo set up Sergei Zenjov one-on-one with the keeper. The pair looked lost and the Lille defenders deflected the ball out.

Minutes later, Dabo earned Gabala”s next corner.
Nika Kvekveski”s kick found Ricardinho fed back to the Georgian player. And his strike was finished clinically by Vitaliy Vernydub from a close range – 1:0.

The goal prompted Lille to step up inroads into the Gabala defence, but they failed to make any serious threat.

Theo Weeks went too close to doubling Gabala”s lead, on 24 minutes, surging through opponent defenders before his effort missed the target.

Dabo”s superb pass met Zenjov to fire from a promising position that was cancelled by Vinsent Enyeama difficultly.

In the closing minutes of the half, the referee picked up 3 yellow cards.

After the restart, Lille were faster and Dmytro Bezotosnyi gave a great save to his teammates denying Lille Benzia.

But the next effort from the home side led to level when the ball kicked the post and Ryan Mendes shot the returned ball in – 1:1.

After the goal, Lille gave some more troubles to Bezotosnyi bu our keeper held on clear up to the final whistle.

Gabala”s only goal was debut by Ukrainian Vernydub in his 27th match for the red-black side.

The return match is fixed to the next Thursday, August 4.
